NEW Business on the block: Kreative Kreations

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope everyone is having a magnificent Monday! This is the first week of October and I can’t believe that 2011 is almost over. Halloween is at the end of this month and everyone is hitting the stores to find a great costume to rock that night. I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween but I am thinking about dressing up this year lol. I have a few R&B singers in mind that I may emulate so we shall see.

Now let’s move on to the fun stuff. My weekend was pretty cool. In my previous post I talked about the The Great Switch Fashion Show that I attended this past Saturday but I failed to mention that I was invited by one of my blogging buddies (Chanell from Sepia Says) to visit a new clothing boutique called Kreative Kreations located in Miami Gardens. Kreative Kreations boutique has only been opened for 5 months but before the owners (Keysha, Krystle and Sheniqua) were able to find a location they would sell their items at different events. I love finding new places to shop for clothing, shoes, and accessories. I have plenty of pictures below so enjoy!

Outfit Deets!! Shirt: Love Culture//Maxi Skirt: XX21//Tank: XX21//Bracelets and Earrings: Miami Accessory store

Chanell and I are posing with the owners of Kreative Kreations

Chanell picked out and purchased some very cute items in the boutique. She walked out of there with this strapless ruffled romper! Isn’t it cute? She was looking for something to wear to dinner that night and we thought that the romper would be awesome. Chanell already had a brown blazer so she paired it with the romper and heels! She looked great!

Everyone knows that I love and adore accessories but I wanted to look at different tops because I always feel as though I don’t have any tops in my closet. Many of my friends would beg to differ but I know what I have in my closet. I picked out this sleeveless top that has rectangular shapes on it and thought I would be able to utilize it in the future. I ended up purchasing the top for only $12.99!

One of the best things about Kreative Kreations is that it caters to regular and plus sizes!  That was a wise business move so that ALL shoppers feel as though they can stop by and be able to purchase accessories as well as an outfit.

I loved lovED LOVED their accessories! The boutique features unique items at reasonable prices. The accessories ranged from $3.99 to $40.00!! Overall I enjoyed shopping and speaking with the owners of the boutique. For more information about Kreative Kreations click here to visit their facebook page!

Thanks for stopping by ✌.

P.S Kreative Kreations is located at 1814 NW 183rd St Miami Gardens, FL 33056!!

Just already having a passion for the field that I want to be in, which is fashion.

ASW’s Featured Guest: Ms. Ariel Burke

Let’s meet ASW’s guest!

Ariel Burke is a fashion forward 24 year old woman, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida. She is currently working on a Fine Arts degree. Ms. Burke’s career goals are to be a creative director of a fashion magazine, own her own vintage thrift store and own at creative arts firm that will focus on photography, graphic design, and fashion styling!

Not only does she work and go to school full time but surprisingly enough she finds the time to blog, thrift, spend time with family and friends, take pictures, draw, write and of course SHOP! Ms. Burke clearly knows how to balance it all.

I’ve known Ms. Burke for about 7 years now. We met freshman year at the University of South Florida and since I’ve known Ariel I could probably count on 1 hand how many times I saw her walk in flats! She loves wearing stilettos. She is very passionate about fashion and stays current with the latest trends of each season.

Interview with Ariel Burke

Visit her Website: Fashiondevotee.com

Who is your fashion inspiration?

I can’t narrow my fashion inspiration down to one particular thing  or person. I view fashion as an art form in which you can find inspiration from anywhere rather it be architectural or organic. I am inspired by beautiful well designed articles of clothing, sky high stilettos, oversized clutches etc. I want to look and feel glamorous at all times. When you look good you feel good!

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?

Maybelline’s XXL mascara

What is your current favorite fashion trend?

Color blocking, I am obsessed with this springs way of color contrasting and mixing unexpected colors.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?

I abhor kitten heels for young women. Heels should add to the feminity and sexiness of a women.  Kitten heels may achieve that for grandmothers but not for young women.

Why did you start your blog?

Actually it was the idea of a friend of mine Brittany she is the editor of  clumpsofmascara.com. She suggested that I started  a fashion blog. I wanted a platform where I could just talk about how I see fashion through my eyes. As I have grown as a blogger my focus is on helping women develop their personal style. I have been in this love affair with fashion my entire life. I took that passion and my love for words and created Fashion Devotee.

How would you describe your style?

I have an ever evolving sense of style. My style has evolved so much over time. If I had to use one word to describe my style I would say eclectic. I can wear a 50’s swing dress with a platform pump and a studded clutch. Mixing my love for 50’s vintage with my love for sky high stilettos and rocker chic.

One of the most important things to me about style is dressing in pieces that are flattering to my body type. When  I find a silhouette that works for me  I stick with it. You can have the most beautiful, well designed article of clothing but if it is ill fitting it is not flattering. I have come to really know myself and my body and I can usually look at an item and know if it will be a good fit.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this Spring?

A nude platform pump

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?

I can’t think of one particular item that was most expensive. I believe in splurging on classics and style staples. Items that I can keep in my closet that wont go out of style. Examples would be a black pump, a classic LBD, a classic leather bag to name a few.

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?

I recently started thrifting and I find some of the most amazing deals. I have gotten belts for fifty cents and dresses for a dollar. I live for a good bargain.

What is one thing that you regret buying?

I don’t really suffer from buyers remorse. I over analyze practically every area of my life. If I make a big purchase, I have really  thought about it and weighed my options.

If you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?

Grace Coddington the Creative Director of Vogue. Creative direction is my ultimate goal because it combines my love for art, graphic design, fashion, photography editorials and wardrobe styling. In my opinion Grace is one of the most creative minds in fashion and will go down in history as one of the greatest living stylist.

Where would you most like to visit?

Paris, I would love to live there for at least a year, experience their culture and learn to speak French.

What are your top 5 favorite pieces in your closet?

My five favorite pieces would be a black studded clutch, a cream and black striped peplum dress, a rose colored one shoulder ruffled bustier top, a pair of black and nude open toed platform shoes, a black double breasted wool trench coast with patent leather piping

Take a look at her work. She was the stylist for both photos!

I have arrived…

Sweater:XX21/Cargo pants:Urban Outfitters/Bomber Jacket:Bebe/Boots:Charlotte Russe/Scarf:Love Culture/Purse:STEVEN/Necklace:mom bought it for me in Africa/Earrings:Gift/Bracelet:random

As you all know, I headed out to the Maryland/DC area today!! I had a great flight. Let me take that back lol My flight was kind of uncomfortable…I had the window seat and the lady who sat next to me decided that she was going to take up ALL the space. I couldn’t even rest my elbows on the armrest of the seat which meant that it was hard for me to even read my magazine! That is not even the worst of it. The lady decides that she is going to SNORE for the entire 2 hour flight! I was too excited when the pilot said we would be landing in 10 minutes because hearing that lady snore was awful. All in all I thank God for getting me to DC safely!

After my sister and I got settled in we changed clothes so that we could head out to my sister’s favorite DC restaurant called Nando’s Peri-Peri, which serves Portuguese food! The food was DELICIOUS! If I lived here I would eat there at least once a month! This restaurant had impeccable service. If you are ever in the DC/Maryland area I would definitely recommend that you eat at this restaurant!

Doesn't this look delicious? It tastes even better with the different sauces below!

Wild Herb...Hot...Garlic..Extra Hot

Headed to Nando's!
